[14-12] Pianist SATOKO INOUE to visit Ireland - Concerts in Donegal, Dublin and Roscommon, 23-26 July

Japanese pianist Satoko Inoue is giving a series of concerts in Ireland in July. Satoko Inoue is renowned in Japan, Europe and the United States as a leading interpreter of contemporary solo piano music. She has premiered works by some of Japan’s foremost composers including Jo Kondo, Yori-aki Matsudaira, Yoritsune Matsudaira and Toshi Ichiyanagi and is known for recitals of works by contemporary composers such as John Cage, Morton Feldman, Henry Cowell, Luciano Berio, Giacinto Scelsi and Luc Ferrari amongst others.

Mr Chihiro Atsumi, Ambassador of Japan to Ireland said, “I am very pleased that Ms Inoue will play in three cities including Dublin. I hope that Irish people will enjoy listening to Japanese contemporary music and gain a further understanding of Japan through her performances”.
Satoko Inoue commented, “I’m very happy to have the chance to introduce Japanesecontemporary music to Irish music lovers. When we introduce Japanese culture to Irish people, I believe that it’s very important to introduce not only traditional culture (music) but also today’s culture (music.)”.
Her visit to Ireland is supported by the Japan Foundation.
