12th Japanese Speech Contest

On 2 March, the 12th Japanese Speech Contest was held at the Clock Tower in the Department of Education and Skills in Dublin city centre.

Following Ambassador Atsumi’s opening remarks of encouragement, the 18 contestants in the secondary school category and 3 contestants in the general category demonstrated their Japanese language skills and delighted the audience with their enthusiastic speeches, making this year’s contest a very successful event.

Japanese Film Screening

On 7 March, a screening of the Japanese film Robo-G was held at the Embassy of Japan for a group of 23 students from Loreto Secondary School, Wexford, who also watched a selection of Japan Video Topics introducing Japanese culture.

Kumamoto Artpolis: Architecture through Communication

In cooperation with the Japan Foundation, and in co-sponsorship with the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland (RIAI), the Embassy of Japan in Ireland presented an exhibition of photographs entitled “Kumamoto Artpolis: Architecture through Communication” at the RIAI between 5 and 25 March 2014.
