Poetry Reading with Tanka Poet Hisa Kagawa
On 27 February, an evening of poetry readings with tanka poet Hisa Kagawa was held at the Embassy of Japan. In addition to tanka, the evening included readings of haiku by the Irish Haiku Society, to which all the participants listened attentively.
Speech at UCD by Ambassador Atsumi


On 19 February, Ambassador Atsumi gave a lecture entitled "Partnership for Innovation and Growth - Japan and Ireland“ at University College Dublin (UCD). The lecture was well attended by around 60 students as well as Professor Andrew J Deeks, President of UCD.
Ireland Japan Association (IJA) Annual Dinner
On 14 February, about 100 guests attended the Ireland Japan Association Annual Dinner at the Gibson Hotel in Dublin city centre. The Taoiseach, Mr Enda Kenny TD, also attended part of the dinner, and after giving a speech, he enjoyed the opportunity to converse with Ambassador Atsumi and other guests.
Lecture by Dr Yoshiyuki Kaneda, JAMSTEC, on "Advanced Researches of Earthquakes and Tsunamis Based on Lessons Learned from the Great East Japan Earthquake 2011"
On 3 February, Dr Yoshiyuki Kaneda of the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC) gave a talk entitled "Advanced Researches of Earthquakes and Tsunamis Based on Lessons Learned from the Great East Japan Earthquake 2011" at the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies (DIAS). The talk was attended by approximately 60 people, who learned about the research being conducted since the earthquake and took part in a lively Q&A session.
