11th Japanese Speech Contest


On 2 March, the 11th Japanese Speech Contest was held at the Clock Tower in the Department of Education and Skills in Dublin city centre.
Following Ambassador Atsumi’s opening remarks of encouragement, the 22 contestants in the secondary school category and 8 contestants in the general category demonstrated their Japanese language skills and delighted the audience with their enthusiastic speeches, making this year’s contest a very successful event.


Poetry Reading with Tanka Poet Hisa Kagawa


On 4 March, an evening of poetry readings with tanka poet Hisa Kagawa was held at the Embassy of Japan. In addition to tanka, the evening included readings of haiku by the Irish Haiku Society, to which all the participants listened attentively.
Japanese Film Screening
On 9 March, a screening of the Japanese film Eclair was held at the Chester Beatty Library in Dublin city centre.
