30 January – Japanese Saturday Schools

Ambassador Miyoshi visited the Saturday School for Japanese Children in Dublin and the Japanese School of Ireland.

22 ~24 January – Akumakon

The anime, manga and Japanese cultural convention “Akumakon” was held at NUI Galway, and voice actor Ryo Horikawa gave a talk. A representative of the Embassy of Japan also gave a talk on Japan.

21 January – Reception marking Ambassador’s accreditation

A reception was held at the Ambassador's residence to mark the occasion of Ambassador Miyoshi’s accreditation. Guests included Mr Sean Barrett TD, Ceann Comhairle, the President of University College Dublin, representatives of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the business community, and the heads of diplomatic missions.

18 January – visit to Trinity College Dublin

Ambassador Miyoshi visited Trinity College Dublin, founded over 400 years ago, and discussed the exchange of students and researchers between Japan and Ireland with the Provost, Dr Prendergast.

New Year Reception

The annual New Year Reception was held at the Ambassador’s residence. Following opening remarks by Ambassador Miyoshi and Mr Ozaki, President of the Japan Business Society in Ireland, the approximately 120 guests, mainly comprising Japanese residents in Ireland, enjoyed the evening.

14 January – Presentation of Credentials

Ambassador Miyoshi presented her Letters of Credence to the President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins.
 
School visits

A representative of the Embassy of Japan visited Scoil Ursula, Sligo Grammar School and Ursuline Secondary School in Sligo, and Loreto Secondary School in Wexford, and talked to students about Japan.
