In association with Moving Bodies and the Embassy and featuring Butoh master Mr Masaki Iwana and performers, a Butoh performance and workshop entitled “Difference – Own your Difference” was held.


24 JuneAmbassador Miyoshi Visits Lafcadio Hearn Japanese Gardens

At the Lafcadio Hearn Japanese Gardens, which reflect his amazing lifelong travels, in Tramore on the outskirts of Waterford city, (where Hearn spent some time in his youth), Ambassador Miyoshi attended a ceremony to mark the 1st anniversary of the opening of the gardens.

After giving a speech at the “Ireland- Japan Biomaterials & Tissue Engineering Seminar” at NUI Galway (jointly organised by ISCA-Japan and NUI Galway), Ambassador Miyoshi met with NUI Galway President Dr. James J. Browne and discussed future cooperation.
16 June WUKF World Karate Championships

The WUKF World Karate Championships were held in Dublin.
15 June Lecture by Professor Reiko Kuroda, Tokyo University of Science

A lecture entitled “Japanese Women in Leadership in Science and Society” was held in association with University College Dublin (UCD) and the Embassy (UCD President Andrew Deakes and Vice President Orla Feely attended). Following an introduction by Ambassador Miyoshi, Professor Reiko Kuroda from Tokyo University of Science gave a lecture. Afterwards, a lively exchange of opinions with the audience of around 40 people took place.
5 June Irish National Kendo Championships and Ambassador’s Cup

In association with the Irish Kendo Federation and the Embassy, the Irish National Kendo Championships and Ambassador’s Cup took place.
