26 August – Screening of Documentary on Sister Paschal
On 26 August, a screening of a documentary on the life of Sister Paschal (who died at the age of 101 in 2013) was held. Sister Paschal was an Irish nun who spent 75 years in Japan teaching English and she made an enormous contribution to the development of friendly relations between Japan and Ireland.

6 August – Hiroshima/Nagasaki Commemoration Ceremony
On 6 August in Dublin’s Merrion Square Park, a ceremony organised by the Irish Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament to commemorate the victims of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic bombs was held. Ambassador Miyoshi represented the Embassy of Japan at the event and Cllr. Mary Freehill, Irish government officials and members of the general public also attended.

28 July – Visit to Ireland by Secondary Schoolchildren from the Areas Affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake
On 28 July, 9 secondary schoolchildren from the areas affected by the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake arrived in Ireland. In a programme organised by “Support Our Kids”, the schoolchildren, accompanied by Ambassador Miyoshi, made a presentation about the current situation in the affected areas to Mr. Charles Flanagan TD, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, and Cllr. Brendan Carr, Lord Mayor of Dublin.

On 28 July, 9 secondary schoolchildren from the areas affected by the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake arrived in Ireland. In a programme organised by “Support Our Kids”, the schoolchildren, accompanied by Ambassador Miyoshi, made a presentation about the current situation in the affected areas to Mr. Charles Flanagan TD, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, and Cllr. On 2 July, a pre-departure orientation and reception was held at the Ambassador’s residence for the 39 new Irish JET Programme participants who travelled to Japan this summer.
