1 October – European JET Programme Alumni Association Meeting
The JET Programme began 30 years ago. The chairpersons of the JET Alumni Associations of the United Kingdom, Germany, France and Ireland gathered at Ambassador Miyoshi’s official residence. JET alumni are active in various fields and it is hoped that valuable networking can be achieved by them.

10 October – Public Lecture by Professor Kajitani, Kobe University, on East Asian and Chinese Economies
At Trinity College Dublin, a public lecture on the East Asian and Chinese economies by Professor Kai Kajitani, Kobe University, was held. There was a lively discussion with the large audience that attended.

22 October – Ambassador Miyoshi Attends “A Doctor’s Sword” Lecture
Ambassador Miyoshi met with Mr. Bob Jackson, the author of the book “A Doctor’s Sword” and also the producer of the documentary film of the same name, and heard about the checkered fate and the achievements of Castletownbere, County Cork native Dr. Aidan McCarthy, who survived the atomic bomb in Nagasaki and saved Japanese lives.

27-28 October – Talk and Masterclass about Japanese Modern Ceramics
Japanese ceramic maker Akiko Hirai gave a talk and held a masterclass about modern ceramics at the National Craft Gallery in Kilkenny.
