2 November – Japanese Sake Promotion Event

A Japanese food promotion event using Japanese sake and Irish ingredients was held at Ambassador Miyoshi’s official residence. Approximately 40 invited guests enjoyed a cookery demonstration by Ms. Fiona Uyema, a former JET and a food researcher, and Irish food provided by Bord Bia. The event was included in “An Irishman’s Diary” column in The Irish Times newspaper two days later.


  
 

3 November ISCA Japan Workshop On Extreme Ultraviolet Lithography Etc

A physics workshop, with the support of International Strategic Cooperation Award (ISCA) Programme and also participants from Japanese universities, was held at University College Dublin (UCD) and Ambassador Miyoshi also made a speech.
 
4 November Eirtakon

“Eirtakon”, Ireland’s largest anime and cosplay event, was held at Croke Park in Dublin and the Embassy, together with the London office of the Council of Local Authorities for International Relations (CLAIR), had a stand to introduce Japan to people at the event. In addition, Embassy staff, the JET Programme Coordinator and CLAIR gave talks on Japanese culture and the JET Programme.


   


8 November JET Programme Returnee Reception

A reception for JET Programme participants who had returned from Japan was held at Ambassador Miyoshi’s official residence. It was a lively party with university students who had participated in this year’s MIRAI Programme in September, members of the Japanese business community and the Ireland Japan Association (IJA) also in attendance.
 
17 November “Future Healthcare” ISCA Japan Research Seminar And Workshop

A seminar, with participation from professors from Chiba University, was held at University College Dublin (UCD) and Ambassador Miyoshi also attended. Ireland has one of the youngest populations in Europe, but the attendees listened keenly to the presentations about the situation in Japan.
 
20 November International Charity Bazaar

The International Charity Bazaar organised by the Diplomatic Corps was held at the Royal Dublin Society (RDS) and Embassy staff and the spouses of diplomats took part wearing green happi coats.
 
25 November Courtesy Call By Ambassador Miyoshi On Chief Of Staff Of The Defence Forces Of Ireland

Ambassador Miyoshi paid a courtesy call on Vice Admiral Mark Mellett DSM, the Chief of Staff of the Defence Forces of Ireland, at his office in County Kildare and they exchanged views on United Nations Peacekeeping Operations and the security environment.
