19 January 2018 – 60th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Japan and Ireland Closing Ceremony
The closing ceremony of the 60th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Japan and Ireland was hosted by Mr. Ciaran Cannon TD, Irish Minister of State for the Diaspora and International Development, with Mr. Kazuyuki Nakane, Japanese State Minister for Foreign Affairs, in attendance.

19 January 2018 – New Year Reception
The annual New Year Reception was held at the Ambassador’s residence. Following opening remarks by Ambassador Miyoshi and Mr. Shinichi Hayashida, President of the Japan Business Society in Ireland, the invited guests enjoyed the evening.

19-21 January 2018 – Akumakon
At “Akumakon”, the popular culture convention held in Galway, the Embassy exhibited with a stand to introduce Japanese culture and Sou Watanabe, the Embassy’s cultural attache, gave a talk on the subject. The cosplay events were also well-attended.

24 January 2018 – School Visit to Belmayne Educate Together National School
During Belmayne Educate Together National School’s “International Week”, Sou Watanabe, the Embassy’s cultural attache, gave a class on Japan and, through a quiz, taught the children about Japanese society and culture.

26-28 January 2018 – Holiday World Show Exhibition
At the Holiday World Show, Ireland’s largest holiday exhibition, in Dublin, a stand promoting tourism to Japan exhibited with Ambassador Miyoshi and Mr. Shane Ross TD, Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, visiting the stand wearing the other’s respective national rugby jersey. Taiko and kendo performances were well-received by visitors to the event.
