3 March 2019 – Cultural Exchange with Old Belvedere Rugby Club U-11s
A cultural exchange was held between 100 children and parents of Old Belvedere Rugby Club and the Embassy with two members of the Irish national team also in attendance. Despite the inclement weather, a kendama demonstration and taiko performance took place during the match and were received well.

4 March 2019 – Tanka and Haiku Poetry Recital and Kimono Demonstration
Tanka poet Hisa Kagawa from Japan visited Ireland once again this year and gave a workshop at Dublin City University alongside haiku poet Anatoly Kudryavitsky. The Dublin Kitsuke Society held a kimono demonstration and a screening of “A Doctor’s Sword” also took place.

6 March 2019 – Tohoku Sake And Networking Event On The Occasion of the 8th Anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake
On the occasion of the eighth anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake and bearing in mind the efforts to support the recovery of the region, an event promoting Tohoku sake was held again this year at the Ambassador’s official residence. This year’s event included a performance of Irish music by the group “Seoidín” from Bray.

9 March 2019 – 17th Japanese Speech Contest in Ireland
The 17th Japanese Speech Contest in Ireland was held on the University College Dublin campus. This year there were 10 participants in first and second year secondary student category, 9 in the second year student category and 7 in the general category.

31 March 2019 – Seminar on Imperial Succession
A lecture by Dr Declan Downey RAH, School of History, University College Dublin and a screening of “His Majesty the Emperor: 30 Years Since His Majesty's Accession” took place at the Chester Beatty Library. The event was very well attended.
