The Embassy of Japan is seeking a highly motivated, team-oriented individual for the position of cultural assistant at the Embassy of Japan in Ireland. Please see below for details.
1. Terms of Employment
- Fixed working hours are 9:00 am –5:45 pm (lunch break: 1 hour), with occasional overtime work before/after working hours and weekends.
- Salary range: Approximately 3,500 to 4,000 euro per month (which includes the employer PRSI contribution). The actual amount will be decided after reviewing (qualifications, experience, etc.) in accordance with the Embassy’s regulations.
Please note the Embassy does not use the PAYE system, and therefore, the employee will be responsible for paying PRSI and income tax from his/her salary.
- Hiring Date: On or after Monday, 24th February 2025
- Place of work: Embassy of Japan in Ireland
2. Responsibilities
- Event Organisation: Assist in the organisation of Japanese cultural events and outreach.
- Programme Administration: Help coordinate various Japanese government education and exchange programmes.
- Social Media/Website: Draft and update posts and articles for the Embassy’s social media accounts and website.
- Database Administration: Maintain cultural databases and files.
- Cultural Enquiries: Liaise with members of the public regarding Japanese cultural matters.
3. Required and Preferred Qualifications
- Exceptional interpersonal, organisational and customer service skills
- Familiarity with MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint and social media platforms (Facebook/X)
- High degree of knowledge about Japan and Japanese culture
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (knowledge of Japanese language preferable)
