Ireland Japan Association Awarded with Commendation of Foreign Minister of Japan

2025/8/28
On 28 August, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan announced that the Ireland Japan Association (IJA) has been awarded with the Commendation of the Foreign Minister of Japan. This decision was made in recognition of the IJA’s great contribution to the promotion of economic relations between Japan and Ireland.

The IJA has helped not only to promote and develop economic and business relations between Japan and Ireland for many years, but also to promote Japanese language education and to foster human resource development in Japanese studies in Ireland. The IJA also runs regular workshops where participants can experience traditional Japanese culture. Through these and other activities, the IJA facilitates people-to-people exchanges while strengthening and promoting mutual understanding between Japan and Ireland.
The Foreign Minister’s Commendations are awarded to individuals and groups with outstanding achievements in international fields, in order to acknowledge their contributions to the promotion of friendship between Japan and other countries and areas. The Commendations also aim to promote the understanding and support of the Japanese public for the activities of the recipients.
