On 9 January, 16 students from Sapporo Nishi High School, located in Hokkaido, visited the Embassy of Japan in Ireland and paid a courtesy call on Ambassador MIYAGAWA Manabu. The group met the Ambassador and Embassy staff members and conveyed their impressions about Ireland and their exchanges with Irish people. Ambassador MIYAGAWA introduced to them the relationship between Ireland and Japan, including the upcoming 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2027, BakeBake and KOIZUMI Yakumo (Lafcadio Hearn), and Japanese companies investing in Ireland. The students proactively asked many questions, and various topics were discussed from the work of the Embassy, the Irish political and educational systems to famous sightseeing spots in Ireland with the Ambassador and Embassy staff members.
