New Year Reception for the Japanese community in Ireland

Ambassador MIYAGAWA welcoming guests
On 22 January, Ambassador MIYAGAWA Manabu and his wife welcomed guests to the 2026 New Year Reception(賀詞交換会 ‘gashikoukankai’)for the Japanese community in Ireland at their official residence.

Following Ambassador MIYAGAWA's welcome remarks, Dr Peter MacMillan, renowned translator of Japanese poetry, who kindly hosted karuta tournaments for Irish students at the residence on the same day (please see our Facebook post from 27 January), and Mr ASADA Yuichi, Chairperson of the Japan Business Society in Ireland made speeches on behalf of the guests.
