On 5 February, Ambassador MIYAGAWA Manabu visited the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and met Mr Colm Hayes, Director General, Global Ireland and Economic Division, and his colleagues to exchange the views on bilateral and global issues. Both sides shared the recognitions that they would continue to deepen discussion on the issues such as cyber cooperation, further cultural and youth exchanges, cooperation at the UN and other international venues among others, taking into account the upcoming EU Presidency of Ireland and the results of the Japan-Ireland Summit in Tokyo in 2025.
Both sides also expect that the planned visit on St. Patrick’s Day in March by Mr Sean Canney TD, Minister of State for International and Road Transport, Logistics, Rail and Ports, will lead to increased mutual visits as well as trade and investment between Ireland and Japan.
The Embassy of Japan in Ireland will maintain close communication with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade so that both countries will develop the bilateral relations in political, economic and cultural spheres toward the 70th anniversary to commemorate the establishment of the diplomatic relations.
