On 27 February, Ambassador MIYAGAWA Manabu held an online meeting with Mr UESADA Akihito, Mayor of Matsue City, who visited Ireland in early February, together with members of the city’s official delegation. Building on exchanges of views held during the recent visit to Ireland with representatives of Dublin City, economic organisations, Irish companies, University College Dublin, the Ireland Japan Association, and the Lafcadio Hearn Japanese Gardens, they discussed a range of prospective projects and exchanges aimed at deepening relations between Matsue City and Ireland.

Ambassador MIYAGAWA expressed his appreciation for the positive and concrete ideas and proposals put forward by Matsue City to promote cultural exchange with Ireland and to strengthen partnership in the fields of industry and tourism. With an eye to the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Ireland in 2027, he stated that the Embassy of Japan in Ireland would provide all possible support to further advance concrete cooperation and exchanges between Matsue City and Ireland.
