On 10 March, Ambassador MIYAGAWA Manabu paid a courtesy call on Mr John Conlan, Deputy Secretary General (responsible for Finance Division, Human Resources Division, Corporate Services Division and Citizen Services) at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. After introducing himself, Ambassador MIYAGAWA listened to Mr Conlan’s experiences and strong commitment, dating back to the planning stage, to realise the vision for Ireland House Tokyo, which was opened in Tokyo in 2025.
Both sides also compared notes on their respective diplomatic and consular efforts to protect the safety of the Japanese and Irish nationals in the Middle East region, given the ongoing situation there.
The Embassy of Japan in Ireland will continue to work closely with Ireland’s governmental organisations, including Ireland House Tokyo, in order to further develop diplomatic and trade relations between Japan and Ireland, as well as between Ireland and the Asia-Pacific region.
