On 26 February, Ms Maeve von Heynitz, Director General of EU and Trade Policy Division at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, kindly received Ambassador MIYAGAWA Manabu and Mr ISHIMOTO Akihiro, First Secretary at the Embassy of Japan in Ireland. The meeting started with a warm welcome and self-introductions, followed by a briefing on the policy preparations for the next Irish EU Presidency (from July to December 2026), and the expression of Japanese interest in enhancing relations with the EU through good leadership from Ireland as the upcoming chair of the EU.
