On 3 March, Dr Naonori Kodate, Associate Professor at University College Dublin (UCD), kindly visited the Embassy of Japan. He exchanged views with Ambassador MIYAGAWA Manabu and Ms NAKATA Keiko, First Secretary at the Embassy, on various issues such as the history, current state, and future prospects of cooperation and exchanges in the field of education between Japan and Ireland.

Dr Kodate has made significant contributions to educational exchange and research partnerships between the two countries, including through the establishment and management of the UCD Centre for Japanese Studies and its precursor unit called UCD Japan Group, and has helped to deepen interest in Japan among many young people in Ireland.

The Embassy of Japan in Ireland intends to learn from Dr Kodate’s experience and ideas in further enhancing  Japan–Ireland cooperation and engagement in the field of higher education and innovative research, and will continue its efforts to further develop such cooperation and partnerships between the two countries.
