On 24 March, the Embassy of Japan in Ireland invited ikebana professor Ms Tomoko Sempo Yanagi to Ireland to conduct demonstrations and workshops. Trinity College Dublin kindly agreed to host one of the workshops! Arigatou gozaimasu! After the demonstration, participants had a go themselves at ikebana for the first time. Throughout the event, participants asked many questions about ikebana and Japanese culture, and after they completed their works, Ms YANAGI praised their efforts and gave everyone feedback one by one. It was a fantastic opportunity to both learn and experience Japanese culture!
Ms Yanagi is a Professor in the Ikenobo School of Ikebana, with nearly 40 years of study and practice since childhood. She is also President of the Ikenobo UK & Ireland Chapter and a Royal Horticultural Society Flower Show medallist.
