Meeting with TG4 in Connemara, County Galway

On 13 April, Ambassador MIYAGAWA Manabu and his wife Mrs MIYAGAWA Noriko, together with Mr Dáithí Ó hAodha, Public Relations and Culture Assistant at the Embassy of Japan in Ireland, visited TG4. They met with Director General Ms Deirdre Ní Choistín, Chairperson Ms Anna Ní Ghallachair, as well as other executives and staff members of TG4.

Both sides engaged in a meaningful exchange of views on cultural, sporting, and other forms of cooperation between Japan and Ireland. The discussion touched on topics such as TG4’s documentary on Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, the NHK morning drama “Bakebake (The Ghost Writer’s Wife)” broadcast in Japan, and various Irish sporting events scheduled from this summer onward.

After the meeting, the Embassy delegation was given a tour of the studios where TG4’s weather forecasts and news programmes are broadcast. The Embassy of Japan in Ireland expressed its appreciation for the opportunity to visit TG4 and reaffirmed its commitment to further deepening understanding of Ireland’s history and culture, as well as promoting exchanges between Japan and Ireland through TG4’s programmes.
