On 30 April, Ambassador MIYAGAWA Manabu and Ms NAKATA Keiko, First Secretary of the Embassy of Japan, visited Toyota Ireland in Dublin and met with Mr Steve Tormey, President. Mr Tormey and Mr Edward Garavan, Managing Director, kindly gave an overview of the company’s business and its history. Both sides exchanged views on possible areas of co-operation to further advance TOYOTA’s operations, which would further deepen Japan–Ireland economic relations.
Founded in 1973, TOYOTA Ireland has, for more than 50 years, built strong relationships of trust with local communities through its network of dealerships across the country. Some dealers have worked with TOYOTA for two or three generations of their families. The company has maintained the largest share of the Irish automotive market for five consecutive years up to 2025 and it continues to lead the market this year. The dealer network employs approximately 1,300 people in Ireland.
The Embassy of Japan in Ireland reiterates its gratitude for the opportunity to hold this meeting and looks forward to continuing to support the further development of the company’s business, thereby contributing to the deepening of Japan–Ireland relations.
