On 21 April, Ambassador MIYAGAWA Manabu paid a courtesy call on Minister James Browne, who visited Japan in August 2025.
The Ambassador introduced himself by way of describing Japan's brief housing history after 1945 and the most recent developments such as wooden buildings by Japanese companies and a public-private joint undertaking to renovate old flats, taking into account "Delivering Homes, Building Communities 2025-2030", the substantial action plan by the Government of Ireland.
Minister Browne welcomed the call by the Ambassador and Mr ISHIMOTO Akihiro, First Secretary at the Embassy of Japan in Ireland, recalling his visit to Japan. The Minister touched upon the priorities of the Irish government and his department with regard to housing policy as well as introducing the department’s vision with respect to heritage.
The Embassy of Japan reiterates its gratitude for the opportunity of the courtesy call, looking forward to steadfastly building upon the momentum for further exchanges on housing and heritage between Ireland and Japan generated by Minister Browne's visit to Japan.
