Strengthening Japan–Ireland Economic Relations

On 11 June, 19 days before the commencement of the EU Presidency of Ireland, Ambassador MIYAGAWA Manabu visited Mr Declan Hughes, Secretary General of the Department of Enterprise, Tourism and Employment, and exchanged views on the further development of economic relations between Japan and Ireland.

Ambassador MIYAGAWA touched upon possible ways and means to enhance the economic security of both countries through the promotion of trade and investment between Japan, Ireland and the EU, the development of even more resilient supply chains, the advancement of business opportunities in the field of artificial intelligence, and new possibilities in the space sector amongst others. He also explained Japan’s updated “Free and Open Indo-Pacific”.
