On the evening of 10 June, Summer Reception was hosted by the Chief of Staff of the Irish Defence Forces at the McKee Barracks, where Lieutenant General Rossa Mulcahy, Chief of Staff of the Irish Defence Forces, delivered welcoming remarks. In his address, Lieutenant General Mulcahy provided a comprehensive overview of the Defence Forces’ activities in maintaining peace and security for the people of Ireland, both at home and overseas. He also noted that, as Ireland would assume the Presidency of the Council of the European Union from 1 July, security will be one of its three key priorities, alongside competitiveness and values. Through the diplomatic corps in attendance, he expressed Ireland’s intention to work closely with partner countries.

Representing the Embassy of Japan in Ireland, Ambassador MIYAGAWA Manabu and First Secretary Mr ISHIMOTO Akihiro, attended the reception and conveyed his gratitude and congratulations to Lieutenant General Mulcahy and Mrs Lorna Mulcahy.

The Embassy of Japan in Ireland remains committed to making every possible effort to further strengthen cooperation and exchanges with Ireland in the field of security in the years ahead.
