On 16 June, at the official residence of the Ambassador of Japan, Ambassador MIYAGAWA Manabu, Deputy Head of Mission HIROHATA Koji, and First Secretary ISHIMOTO Akihiro exchanged views on Japan–Ireland relations, international affairs, and other topics with Ms Emer Currie TD, Convenor of the Ireland–Japan Parliamentary Friendship Group, Senator Garrett Ahearn, Mr Tony McCormack TD, Mr Cormac Devlin TD, Mr John Clendennen TD, Mr Ken O’Flynn TD, Senator Aubrey McCarthy, and Senator Mark Duffy.

The meeting, held on Bloomsday, provided an opportunity for frank and constructive discussions on a wide range of subjects, including experiences of some of the Irish participants' experiences in Japan and exchanges between parliamentarians of both countries toward the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Ireland in 2027. The participants reaffirmed their mutual respect for the history and culture of both countries.

The Embassy of Japan in Ireland greatly appreciates this opportunity for dialogue and will continue engaging with Irish parliamentarians. The Embassy will also make every effort to further facilitate exchanges between members of the Japanese and Irish parliaments.
