On 26 June, Ambassador MIYAGAWA Manabu met with Ms Aoife Conduit, Assistant Secretary General at the Department of Education and Youth, to exchange views on the present situation and future perspective of Japan-Ireland cooperation in the field of education, including foreign language education in both countries. (Please also see our Facebook post of 30 March.)
Ambassador MIYAGAWA stated that, according to the latest survey on Japanese-language education overseas published by the Japan Foundation, Ireland once again ranked first in Europe in terms of the number of Japanese language learners per capita. He also hoped that, by continuing to promote Japanese-language education and people-to-people exchanges such as the JET Programme, Japan and Ireland will further deepen their already excellent bilateral relationship.
The Embassy of Japan in Ireland is grateful for this valuable opportunity to exchange views and looks forward to further deepening cooperation in the field of education through continued dialogue and collaboration with the Department of Education and Youth.
