Japan–Ireland Cooperation in the Space Sector

On 8 July, Ambassador MIYAGAWA Manabu called on Mr Alan Dillon TD, Minister of State at the Department of Enterprise, Tourism and Employment with special responsibility for Employment, Small Business and Retail and the Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment with special responsibility for Circular Economy to exchange views on the potential for further cooperation between Japan and Ireland in the space sector.
Referring to his discussion with Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment Mr Peter Burke TD on 29 April (see our Homepage article dated 29 April), as well as his visit to the Advanced Manufacturing Lab at Irish Manufacturing Research on 15 June to learn about its collaborative projects with the European Space Agency (ESA) (see our website article dated 15 June), Ambassador MIYAGAWA expressed his hope that Japan and Ireland would steadily deepen their cooperation in the space sector, working closely with Japanese companies based in Ireland as well. He also expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to hear from Minister Dillon and his team about Ireland's vision and strategy for the space enterprise sector.
The Embassy of Japan in Ireland will continue to take every opportunity to promote Japan–Ireland cooperation in the space sector. At the same time, it will also keep in mind the opportunities to contribute, from the perspective of bilateral cooperation, to the ongoing joint efforts between ESA and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA).
