Japan-Ireland Exchange and Cooperation in the Policing Sector

On 16 July, Ambassador MIYAGAWA Manabu met with Commissioner Justin Kelly of An Garda Síochána at his residence. During the meeting, Ambassador MIYAGAWA expressed his sincere gratitude for the continued support of An Garda Síochána in ensuring the safety and security of Japanese residents and visitors in Ireland. Ms UENO Yumiko, Second Secretary seconded from Osaka Prefectural Police to the Embassy of Japan in Ireland, who also attended the meeting, gave an overview of recent policing activities in Japan.
Ambassador MIYAGAWA also conveyed a message from Mr KUSUNOKI Yoshinobu, Commissioner General of Japan's National Police Agency, whom he had met during his visit to Tokyo in March while attending the Conference of Japanese Ambassadors in Europe. The Ambassador expressed his hope that exchanges and cooperation between the law enforcement authorities of Japan and Ireland would continue to deepen, including through information-sharing via INTERPOL.
The Embassy of Japan in Ireland will continue to maintain close communication with An Garda Síochána and make every possible effort to help ensure the safety and security of Japanese nationals residing in Ireland.
