Japan–Ireland Cultural Exchange through Theatre

On 30 July, Ambassador MIYAGAWA Manabu and Mrs MIYAGAWA, together with Ms ONOZAKI, Researcher at the Embassy of Japan in Ireland, met with Ms Róise Goan, Artistic Director and CEO of the Dublin Theatre Festival, Ms Dee Patton, General Manager of the Festival, and Ms YAMAKI Mizuho, a PhD Researcher at University College Dublin specialising in Noh theatre and Celtic folklore.
Ambassador MIYAGAWA heard from Ms Goan about the wonderful programme for this year's Dublin Theatre Festival, which will take place from 24 September to 11 October, and conveyed his best wishes for the Festival's success.
The Ambassador and Ms YAMAKI also introduced the Noh workshops led by Noh Master UMEWAKA Yasushi, which were held at the Ambassador's Residence and various venues across Dublin on 1 July (*please see the Embassy's Facebook post of 11 July for more details).
The year 2027 will mark the 70th anniversary of the Dublin Theatre Festival, as well as the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Ireland. The Embassy of Japan in Ireland looks forward to exploring further opportunities to deepen cultural exchange between Japan and Ireland through theatre, both during this memorable year and beyond.
