Exchanges between Japan and Ireland in the field of agriculture and fisheries

On 13 August, Ambassador MIYAGAWA Manabu met with Mr Jim O’Toole, Chief Executive of Bord Bia, to exchange views on further deepening exchanges between Japan and Ireland, and between Japan and the EU, in the fields of agriculture and fisheries. The meeting built on last summer’s visit to Japan by Minister for Agriculture, Mr Martin Heydon TD and other officials, including Chief Executive O’Toole, and their exchange of views with Mr KOIZUMI Shinjiro, then Minister for Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and Chairman of the Japan–Ireland Parliamentary Friendship League.
The Embassy of Japan in Ireland will continue to make every effort to further develop relations between the two countries through food and drink, with a view to the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Ireland in 2027, as well as to promoting exchanges over the medium and long term from 2028 onwards.
