On 26 August, Ambassador MIYAGAWA Manabu met with Secretary General Jacqui McCrum and Assistant Secretary General Bernie Maguire of the Department of Defence. They exchanged views on the current state and prospects for defence exchanges between Japan and Ireland, two like-minded countries committed to a rules-based international order, as well as on regional situations. (*Please refer to the Facebook post dated 19 June regarding the Ambassador’s exchange of views with Secretary General McCrum in June.)

The Embassy of Japan in Ireland wishes every success for the informal EU Defence Ministers’ Meeting to be held in Ireland one week from now. The Embassy would also like to reiterate its appreciation to the Secretary General and Assistant Secretary General for the substantive exchange of views. We will continue to make every effort to step-by-step advance information-sharing and cooperation between Japan and Ireland in the field of defence and security.
