Japan–Ireland Cooperation in Agriculture and Fisheries

On 27 August, Ambassador MIYAGAWA Manabu met with Ms Sinead McPhillips, Secretary General of the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine. They looked back on the meeting held in Tokyo in June 2025 between then Minister for Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries KOIZUMI Shinjiro and Minister for Agriculture Martin Heydon, as well as previous ministerial- and working-level bilateral meetings between Japan and Ireland. They also reviewed cooperation between representatives of the two countries in international organisations, including the WTO, OECD and FAO.
In anticipation of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2027, they exchanged views on ways to further strengthen bilateral relations in the fields of agriculture and fisheries.
The Embassy of Japan in Ireland will continue to work to further promote the sharing of knowledge and expertise, exchanges and cooperation between Japan and Ireland, as both countries continue to advance sustainable food system and deepen their partnership for the future.
