Japan and Ireland — Advancing Cooperation in Quantum Technology

On 17 September, Ambassador MIYAGAWA Manabu of Japan to Ireland and Ms ONOZAKI, Researcher at the Embassy of Japan in Ireland, visited Equal1, a quantum technology company based in the Founders District adjacent to University College Dublin. They had the pleasure of meeting Mr Jason Lynch, CEO, and Mr Patrick McNally, CCO, and would like to express their sincere appreciation for the opportunity to learn more about the company and its work.
During the visit, the delegation was introduced to Equal1’s products by Mr Lynch, which incorporate miniaturised quantum technology. This was followed by a presentation on the company’s cutting-edge business in quantum technology and its vision of a future that extends beyond conventional computing and AI. Particular attention was given to Equal1’s partnerships with Japanese companies and the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), as well as its collaborations with companies in Europe and the United States including the European Space Agency (ESA).
As Japan and Ireland look towards 2027, which will mark the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the Embassy of Japan in Ireland will continue to work with partners across a range of opportunities to promote the development of business and research cooperation between Ireland and Japan in the field of quantum technology. Through these efforts, we hope to further deepen the close relationship between our two like-minded countries, as well as the partnership between Japan and the European Union.
