On 13 October, Ambassador MIYAGAWA and Ms ONOZAKI, Researcher, Embassy of Japan in Ireland welcomed Mr Colm Kincaid, Deputy Governor and Mr Eoin Sheanon, Senior Advisor of the Central Bank of Ireland.
In light of Deputy Governor Kincaid’s and Mr Sheanon's forthcoming visit to Japan to attend a meeting of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO), the Ambassador briefed them on recent developments in the Japanese economy, sharing the major points of Governor Ueda’s address at the National Securities Industry Convention on 6 October, Deputy Governor Uchida’s speech on “AI, Big Data and Monetary Policy” on 5 October, which was followed by discussion.
The Embassy hopes that Deputy Governor Kincaid’s participation in the IOSCO meeting will further strengthen cooperation between the Central Bank of Ireland and Japan's Financial Services Agency, which share many common opportunities and challenges in the field of international finance. During its trip the Central Bank will also meet with colleagues at the Bank of Japan. The Embassy intends to continue fostering close cooperation with the Central Bank of Ireland to uphold multilateral institutions such as IOSCO.
