Japan Signs Horizon Europe Agreement: An Invitation for Global Collaborations

We are pleased to announce that on July 30, 2026, the Government of Japan signed the agreement for Japan’s association to Horizon Europe: the European Union's ambitious research and innovation framework programme. This landmark agreement signifies a profound enhancement of scientific and technological cooperation between Japan, Europe, and other associated countries.
Japanese research institutions, universities, companies are eligible to participate in Horizon Europe calls for proposals from January 1, 2026. We are confident that this association presents unique partnership opportunities to collectively address global challenges in critical areas such as environment, health, digital technologies, and energy. Through Horizon Europe, we endeavor to foster mutual research excellence, generate new knowledge, and accelerate the societal impact of our joint efforts.
