Ambassador's visit to Cork
On 12 September, Ambassador attended the launching ceremony of the Irish Institute of Japanese Studies (IIJS) at University College Cork. The IIJS is the first institute in Ireland specialising in Japanese studies. On 13 September, Ambassador Atsumi paid a courtesy call on the Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr. Terry Shannon.
Ceremony of Decoration to Dr. John O'Conor
On 21 September, the presentation ceremony of the decoration "The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays and Neck Ribbon" to the famous Irish pianist Dr. John O'Conor was held at the Ambassador's residence. Dr. O'Conor has contributed to cultural exchange between Japan and Ireland through music by playing together with Japanese orchestras, participating as a jury member in many music competitions, teaching piano to Japanese students and so on.
Ambassador's visit to Tullamore
On 23 Septemberr, Ambassador Atsumi visited Tullamore. In Tullamore, the Ambassador met Cllr. Danny Owens, Offaly County Council, Mr. Joe O'Brien, President of Tullamore & District Chamber of Commerce among others. The Ambassador's tour of Tullamore town including a visit to Freund Pharmatec Ltd. and to Lumcloon Energy Ltd..
Ambassador congratulates Daiichi Sankyo Ireland at their official office opening ceremony
On 28 September, Ambassador Atsumi attended the official office opening ceremony of Daiichi Sankyo Ireland. Daiichi Sankyo Ireland was established in 2008 and is conducting finance, sales marketing and so on as a group member of Daiichi Sankyo Europe GmbH.
